Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is required when requesting translation work?

Quality Chinese Translation Services needs the actual source document to give an exact price quote that will not change during the project and the requested time frame to complete the translation. We will get back to you with a price quote usually within 3 hours but no longer than one working day.
  2. The easiest way to get a price quote from us is to send us the actual document via your email program to:

If you do not feel comfortable sending your document and want a general price quote, fill out our page: Request Price Quote . We will send you a tentative price quote based on the word count and time frame given. Note however that we can not give an exact price quote until we review the actual source document.

  3. Why don’t most translation sites list the prices on their sites?
Most translation sites do not put prices on the web because pricing varies depending on various factors such as: the document type (marketing, financial, legal), the compexity (simple to legal jargon), the format (word, pdf, images, powerpoint), urgency (next day or 1 week), etc.  If a translation company gives an instant quote, then the quote almost always changes depending on the factors above.  Quality Chinese Translation Services asks for the actual document to give an accurate price quote that will not change during your project.  All pricing is agreed to in email before the project starts.

  4. What file formats do you accept? We work with many file formats, both text and image. These include but are not limited to:
    • Adobe PDF (.pdf)
    • Microsoft Office formats: Word (.doc/.docx), MS Excel (.xls/.xlsx), MS Powerpoint (.ppt/.pptx), MS Publisher (.pub/.pubx)
    • OpenDocument formats (.odt, .ods, .odp)
    • Web pages (.htm, .html, .php etc)
    • A wide range of image formats (.jpg, .gif, .tif, .png, .bmp, .psd, .tga etc.)

  5. How do I pay for the Translation Services?

For most projects, Quality Chinese Translation Services sends and invoice payable within 30-60 days after the customer has received and reviewed the translation.  Customers pay by check or money order.  We do not offer credit card processing at this time.  We accept payment only in US dollars.

  6. What if the translation contains errors, how is this handled? In the unlikely event that there are errors, Quality Chinese Translation Services will fix any errors found in the translation within 30 days of the project at no cost to the customer.

  7. Are there differences in the way a small project or a large project is done? For small projects (under 20 pages), customers are given an end date and the translated document is given on that date unless requested otherwise.  For larger projects, (over 20 pages), customers are usually given the parts of the translation as they become available to make sure they have enough time to review the translation.

  8. How can I send large files (over 10Mb) because my email provider limits me to this size? Quality Chinese Translation Services recommends that you sign up for a “lite” free account on http://www.yousendit.com. This services allows you to send a file with a size up to 100Megabytes for free by sending users a download link for the file.  This service was recommended by PCWorld magazine in it’s February 2009 article to download large files safely.  Most email providers like Google, Yahoo, and Hotmail limit the file attachments sizes that a user can send to 10Megabytes.  These free email account vendors also limit the size that an email account can recieve to 10Megabytes.  The company YouSendIt also has an outlook plug-in for free to send email attachments directly through your local outlook using the YouSendIt service for large file attachments.

  9. Does your company provide interpretation services? Quality Chinese Translation Services does not perform interpretation services. We specialize only in translation between English and Chinese.
